A Thought on Franchise System Planning Today

One of the most rewarding things a founder of a franchise can do is to plan their future business model and set up the franchise system strategy. But, when planning a franchise, the details are important and there is an inner drive to get everything perfect. Perfection in franchising is not possible and no plan ever goes exactly as it was planned.

Thus, when planning, it must be realized that every good plan needs refinement and in franchising once you get going, hell, everything changes anyway, you are on the fly, setting up deals and building the business, new opportunities pop-up, some things you thought would work don't and others surprise you.

But you just don't know until you get going. And when you get going well, you have to use that intuition and gut feeling a lot more than you think, talk about on-the-job-training for a futurist. Having built my company from scratch and franchised it in 23-states over a decade, it was just completely amazing at the speed of growth and size of the enterprise.

So, after having done all this what advice would I give? Well, a couple of things. Keep it simple, resist bureaucracy and save your money, be frugal, you will need your capital, all of it and then some. Most business plans end up taking three-times as long to reach the goals and cost nearly 3 times the money originally thought.

Well, that's all for now, I wish you will in your franchising endeavors, nothing good in life is easy, franchising is a good, so realize the importance of proper planning and the difficulty that will ensue in the future. Good luck and god's speed.
